Netball

Netball is one of Whitfield’s major winter sports for girls. The girls are able to begin netball from Grade 1. In Grade 1 and 2 they practise once a week. In these practices, the girls concentrate on the basic netball rules and ball skills with an emphasis on enjoyment. From U9, the girls are exposed to match situations. The older girls practice once a week and have a match once a week. At their practice, these girls hone their netball skills and match strategies.

Each age group has two teams that play league matches throughout the season with other schools nearby. For those girls who do not make these teams, we have two social sides that play friendly matches.

At Whitfield we are privileged to have good netball facilities. We have at present 1 netball court at school and another at Sports and Social Club. We also have a dedicated team of coaches who are enthusiastic about this sport.

The U13A team has the privilege of going on Winter Tour in July where they play with other Christian schools . The U13 girls also play a fun match against the school’s staff.

Whitfield Academy can proudly say that their netball girls display wonderful sportsmanship on and off the netball court.
